Can i get another cell phone w/ same provider in a different area code?

I am about to start my own account with verizon after being on my brothers for the past few years, so I was wondering, if I'm already on verizon and I want to just get my own account, I know I can keep my own number, but my question is me girlfriend lives in a different area code, state for that matter, and we wanted to be together on the same account, can i keep my area code and she keep hers and do that?

Yes you can take your number onto your own separate account and add her number on that same account. Verizon Wireless recently changed their system so different area codes can now be on the same plans.

you can add a line, but you would have to talk to them for her because it's under your name.
