i was just wondering if i ran up an escalator the rong way would i be arrested?

The closest crime you could commit would be either disorderly conduct, or blocking a public way.  As long as you stay to one side and aren't unreasonable then it is perfectly and you could (legally) do it all day.

If you were on private property, there may be other issues were the management might decide that you are unwelcome and a trespasser.  However, that cannot be done in most public areas due to public accomodation laws.  Moreover, you are first entitled to be formally notified, some states require it to be in writing, that you are unwelcome.

Arrested by whom, mall security or the cops?  You can be detained by mall security while they take down your information.  If you’re warned more than once they could restrict you from returning to the mall.  And if you’re caught again you can be charged with trespassing.  If the police want to play hardball they can charge you with trespassing and public mischief.

Not for simply running up it, but I suspect whether you are in the US or UK you would if you got in anyone else's way or caused them any problems.

I do not think so you might be asked to leave the store or mall.  Just be careful to not plow down someone on your way up.

No.  The escalator is a suggestion, not a law.  Although, you could be kicked out of the particular area you're in for doing it.  If you injure someone doing it, charges could be pressed.  You likely wouldn't be arrested, but you could be sued.
