By the age of 5 or 7, i dont really remember, my mom got married with a US CITIZEN and got Green Cards for her children and herself. We entered the US for no more that a month and went back to DR. Their marriage didnt worked out and by the same age (5 or 7 years old) my mom voluntary surrendered our Green cards in exchange of 10 years if visitor visa. NOW im a 22 years old Industrial Engineer, just renew my 10 years of visitors visa, but i need to know if theres any way i can get back my Green Card, i have my Social Security Number and everything. Just need to know if theres any procedure to get it back and go live permanently in the US. Ill apreciate any HELP in this matther is urgent for me. THANK you for your time reading my question.

  1. No, as noted, once your green card was surrendered, you can't reactiviate it. Even if you hadn't surrendered it, it would no longer be valid once you'd been out of the US for over a year. If you doulbt it, you can always go to the embassy and ask to speak to the DHS office there, but they'll certainly tell you the same thing.

  2. No, once surrendered you lose it forever. You would have to apply again for a Green Card. You may get it faster if they know you had a Green Card before, but the INS are not the most organized people.
