Can i get bonds from my bank?

i am interested in buying bonds with a good interest rate i was wondering can i get bonds from my bank or do i go somewhere else??

  1. If you are looking for savings bonds go to your bank.

    If you have at least a few thousand dollars and want to choose from among many different types of bonds then open an account with any discount brokerage - like Fidelity or TD Ameritrade.

    A discount brokerage account will give you access to all types of treasury bonds and also a wide variety of corporate notes (bonds) that are available in one thousand dollar increments with no sales fee.  A bond fund that a bank will try and sell to you will probably have a 6% upfront sales fee.


  2. Certificate of Deposits - Yes

    Bonds - No

    Some Financial Brokers offer them.
