  1. Try using http://My-InsuranceSearch.com to compare car insurance rates for all the major providers in your area.

  2. If the car is Financed you have to have full coverage on the car...

Most policy's are for the Car 1st then the driver set on records

You can Insurance for just your self...

If you have over 6 to 8 months of good payments see if you quailify for refinancing.... To get his name off the note....

Having his name on the note has good and bad things... If you wreck and get sued he gets sued.... But If you pay car off or try to trade in he can stop you as long as his name is on the papers....

  3. If his name is the only one on the title, it is his car, not yours.  You can ask him to sign it over to you since you are making the payments, if he refuses tell him the payments are his responsibility.  Of course if he doesn't pay they will come after you since you cosigned on the loan.

You might want to discuss options with a good civil attorney.

  4. Yes, but take his name off the car payment. NOW.  If his name is on the car: he can legally take the car.  He may even wait until AFTER you pay it off.  You were the co-signer, he's the main signer/owner.  Get his name off, or you may lose the car, but still have to pay.

  5. First of all cars are insured, not drivers.  As long as a person has permission to drive an insured vehicle and has a drivers license, they are covered.  In most USA states, anyone can insure any vehicle the choose to insure.  Owning the vehicle is not a requirement to be able to insure a vehicle. The rules may change if the owner is under 25 (in some but not all states).
