Can i get enough money from a FAFSA to cover university tuition?

right now i am at a communtity college finishing up my degree in general education. i will graduate this year and i want to go onto a university, but dont know if i can afford it. i am married, and poor. i do fine in this college off of grants but university tuition is much more expensive. can i get enough money from a fafsa to at least cover the tuition? i dont want to do loans if i can help it

  1. The only thing FAFSA can qualify you for other than loans and work study is a Pell Grant, and max for that is $4700 per year. Universities may give you grant money of their own, but you won't know until you apply. At the vast majority of schools a loan will be necessary.


  2. Grants given by FAFSA should be able to cover most public schools tuition. It will certainly not cover private schools. People are generally given about $2000-$7000 or so per year only. So, you should search for universities that isn't so expensive if you don't plan on getting loans.  

  3. The max in federally backed student loans should cover tuition at a state school in your state.

    They will generally NOT be enough to cover tuition at a private school.
