I was writing on a blog with other people that i work with about our company reducing job's and i posted a comment saying that the management reminded me of a bunch of monkey's with their finger's up their but. and also that i was glad that a certain person quit, cause he was doing drugs, and i said his name on the blog, well i just read that one of the management people wrote and said that they were monitoring the website, and they were going to prosecute and or fire any employee making threatening or slanderous remarks. can they do that even though the site has nothing to do with our job. and that we are home when we saying it. cause their going through job layoff's and are trying to find any reason to fire people rite know so they don't have to pay them unemployment. also many others have posted worse stuff.

  1. Most states are employment at will.  Sure, they can fire you for just about any reason.

  2. yes you can, they can fire you for talking bad about the company and putting personal information of other people out there. Hopefully you wont though!

  3. If you have a contract for a specific period of time and it limits the grounds for firing, you can enforce it.  Otherwise, if you are free to quit at any time, for any reason, the company can fire you at any time for any reason.

  4. Yes, they can fire you for this. The internet is a public domain don't assume because you post something it is safe. Having it in writing.. or online.. is just proof to the employer. What you are saying online is very slanderous and you are not representing your company very well! You should be ashamed for posing things like that on a blog. That is aside from the fact that you are practically asking to be fired. Look at the economy, that will very quickly explain your company reducing jobgs.

  5. John Rocker (former Atlanta Braves pitcher) did. For what he said in an interview with Sports Illustrated.

  6. you're o.k. just don't do it again.

  7. erase what you posted

or do it under an assumed name
