have a 92 GPA, but I take all honors/AP/accel classes and have received academic excellence math. I also play many sports. I play baseball (all-stars including advancing to the regional tournerment and gold level travel) and volleyball (varsity), have played basketball (freshmen, AAU), and have done cross-country for my school for three years. I am also VP of NHS, have been co-president and VP of other clubs, and am involved in three different clubs. I have also done MANY community service events, have received awards for my services, and have accumulated 200 hours. I have received the St. Michael’s Book Award for my community service and have been recommended for the YMCA award (honors community service). I have raised money through various fund-raisers for free-clinic and people who are on Medicaid. I also have work experience. I have worked for a tutoring company called Kumon and have completed an internship under a professor and have co-authored a scientific paper.

  1. I would think so, yes.

  2. Actually Indians are an over represented minoriy at top colleges putting you in the most competitive pool for admission. A recent book said Asians need 50 points higher than whites on the SAT for top college admission.

There will be lots of applicants at Cornell this year because it has become, by far, the easiest ivy to get into. With all but Penn and Cornell taking under 13% this year, those without great stats hoping for an ivy have their eye on Cornell.

I don't think you'll get in with your current ACT but you're not too far off. A 31 would put you in the running. Or try the SAT, many do better on that.

We would also need to know your class rank. You need to be minimum top 10%, hopefully top 5%.

This year's graduating class is the biggest in 4 decades and it will be the hardest year in history to get into top colleges between that the the ever increasing number of international applicants in this newly global world. It's essential to have safety schools you love more than ever. Good luck!
