  1. Depends on what you're trying to do.  Are you looking to co-ownership?  Then register the car to John Doe and Mary Smith if you want to have it where both of you would have to sign to make changes, or John Doe or Mary Smith if you want it to where either of you could make changes without the other.

    If you're selling the car to someone on payments and want to make sure you're paid, add them as registered owner and you as legal owner, which would give you the right to take they car back if they quit paying for it.


  2. If you are the owner of the car - then you need to register it in your name.

    However, your best bet is to call the dmv and ask them.

  3. Yes. You can go on as a lien holder if you purchased the vehicle. You can also register it in your name AND the other persons name.
