Can i get my stomach pierced when im on Predisone steroids?

I have been on 20mg of predisone for 2 weeks then 15mg for 1 week, then 10mg for 1 week then 5 mg for 5-6 weeks, and now i am on 5mg every other day. It said they can lower your emmune system and i was going to have my stomach pierced ages ago but i decided not to just in case it wouldnt heal because of the steroids. How long should i wait after i am off steroids to get it pierced? Or will it heal ok because 5mg is only a very small dose? Thanks SO much x x

What does being on a drug have to do with getting a piercing?

you should be fine. it just may take a bit longer to heal-as you already know. maybe wait a few weeks after your last dose to do it. u could always ask the piercing place or your doctor. i have mine pierced and i love it.

you'll be fine as long as you clean it with whatever they give you.

steroids lower your immunity but it's mostly for internal things, like respiratory infections.

5mg every other day is no prob. if you want another opinion ask the guy piercing you..

Because the prednisone you are taking is oral...it is systemic and not just internal.   It will affect ALL healing but the most important part is your body won't be able to fight the infection as well if the piercing gets infected.  All that being said you are on a prednisone taper and at the end of your course and it PROBABLY will not hurt to have the piercing but if you have waited that long I'd recommend waiting ideally till you have been off for a couple of weeks.  

The person piercing you will not have any clue and could care less because they will make their $ no matter what, they are not liable.
