Question:

Can i get serpae tetras?

can 1 or maybe 2 serpae tetras live in the same tank with my 2 guppies and 1 snail and 1 cory cat? it is a 10 gallon tank. i have a seperate 2 gallon if needed.

  1. The Serpae Tetras (who like the water a little softer than the Guppies) tend to be fin nippers sometimes, this might not be so good for your guppies.  You could try it and see, the thing about fish is that they have individual behaviours that can differ from the general profile.  However, your guppies would be happy with more guppies, or other liveberers like platys.  Your Cory Cat is also quite social and he would be happy with a couple more of his own buddies!

  2. they might nip the guppy's tails and harass them a bit, but if you want that go ahead, there are probably better tetras you could add, and dont add them to the 2 gallon tank, its not large enough really, oh and the more serpaes u get in a school, the less aggressive they become towards other fish (same as tiger barbs), if they are in a large school, they will keep the nippin amongst themselves, but if the school gets too small, bad things can happen within and out of the school, good luck with it
