they say that glasses make vision better ... but to me, i think it makes a person dependent on them. and if it's supposed to make the vision better how come everytime i go in they give me a little stronger prescription? it seems like when i get new glasses i feel kinda dizzy for the first week while i adjust to them. can i just go in and ask if i can have the same prescription?

  1. If your eyes have changed, you should have a prescription that's right for them.

I've needed corrective lenses since I was 9.  Not wearing glasses is not going to improve your eyesight, so the "dependence" argument, though common, makes no sense.  If you need glasses, wear glasses.  Big deal.

Eventually, your eyesight will stop getting worse and will level off.  Then you have no problem until you get into your 40s and need bifocals.  (I speak from experience.)

  2. if your eyes need more prescription then u need more

    sometimes the prescription doesnt change

ate least it didnt for me

it just depends how bad your eyes are

  3. No, you always need to have an exam. The dr always gives you stronger glasses because your eyes have gotten worse and you need stronger glasses. You are always going to feel dizzy while you first adjust to the new glasses. Your eyes are very important so get the right strengh for your eyes.

  4. That is a popular misconception. You don't become more dependent on them by actually wearing them. It corrects your vision and when you see how much clearer your vision is you don't like the way it looks without them.

It corrects your vision while wearing them, it doesn't actually "fix" your eyes so you won't need them anymore. The problem is the shape of your eyes. Light entering them does not come to a focus on your retina and the lenses provide the right curvature for the incoming light to hit the retina and clear up your vision.

Your glasses didn't make your eyes worse, while you grow your vision will change and will generally stabilize close to age 20.
