  1. yes we got quite a few and Bed bath and beyond actually let us register for them as well !

    cash is king :p

  2. That is a perfect idea. We got a few gift cards for the stores that we were registered at and I was really happy with that as a gift. It gave me a chance to get a few of the things that I really wanted but did not get. Even if it is for a "small" denomination, every little things helps to a newly wed couple. We had a few people just put $20.00 in a card, it was very nice of them since I know they do not have a lot of money. I was happy that people just showed up! lol

  3. I would say get it, then if theres something they registered for that they really wanted n didnt get they can put the money towards that

if i were the bride thats how i would look at it

  4. that's totally cool and I do that all the time.  I'm not very creative with wedding presents so I just buy them a gift card wherever they're registered, because they won't get everything off their wish list, and with gift cards they can buy what's left themselves

  5. heck no!! i would rather get a $25 gift card to my registered store than a toaster or picture frame i didn't register for! the bride and groom will appreciate the thought. :) have fun!

  6. That's totally fine. In fact, many couples prefer gift cards to actual presents. A gift should never be a financial burden for the giver; it's about the thoughtful gesture, not the value.

  7. get it for them..

it's not the price of the gift it's the thought...

and gift cards better in my opinion anyway   they can buy what they want...

  8. There is nothing wrong with that.  Actually it is quite acceptable.  At most weddings the bride and groom get several gifts that they don't like and end up having to return them.  No one ever returns a gift card.  Gift Cards are becoming the new way to gift giving.

  9. Completely acceptable!  Put in a nice card and drop into the wishing well (card box).

  10. That is a totally acceptable gift !

Oddly enough, I've even seen people actually register for giftcards. (which I though was tacky, as they "registered" for several $500 cards)

  11. A wedding gift can be given within the year of the wedding. Sure, it's ideal if you can give the gift prior to the Big Day, but if you have the opportunity to give something better in the not-so-distant future, wouldn't that be better?

On the other hand, if you think you might be in a similar financial state a couple of months from now, (and for heaven's sake, don't put yourself in an uncomfortable spot!) then perhaps you should go with the gift certificate. It's always preferable to let the bride and groom choose, which is the idea behind a registry.

    Cheers & Good Luck!

  12. Star Gift Card Exchange sells discounted gift cards which it buys from people who would rather have cash.  You can find some great deals.  http://www.stargiftcardexchange.com

    Good luck!

  13. Absolutely!  They can buy what they want on line or at the store, things maybe they wont get r didnt think of.

  14. Giving a gift card to where the couple is registered is totally acceptable.  Most likely, they will get other gift cards as well for the same store and be able to pick out some items that they did not receive after the wedding.

My cousin and his wife were registered at Target and they asked for some weird things like garden hoses (several of them), DVD's, and camping equipment.  I did not want to show up with a beautifully wrapped garden hose so I gave them a gift card!  LOL
