  1. I really don't get the whole promise ring thing. Either you want to marry someone or you don't. Why give a ring that says ONE day I might ask you to marry me? If you want to get her something special as a symbol of love, why don't you go to a jeweler and get a diamond heart shape pendant necklace or something like that? Then, when you are ready give her a nice engagement ring.

  2. There’s no physical distinction between the two. A promise ring is any ring given in promise of whatever you’re promising and an engagement ring is any ring given in promise of marriage.

  3. I'd say as a girl I might be a little ticked to get an engagement ring only to be told  you meant it as a promise ring.  I say get another stone (like emerald or pearl or sapphire) in a ring if you want it to be a promise ring, that way there are no misunderstandings.

  4. I don't see why not. A ring is a ring. I have seen wedding rings that are like birthstone rings. I have seen promise rings that have bigger "rocks" on them then any other wedding or engagement ring i have ever seen. You just have to specify to her what the ring symbolizes...and what it DOES NOT...

  5. There's no such thing as an ring that can only be used for engagements. Yes, a ring with a solitaire diamond tends to be used more for engagements, but it can mean whatever you want it to.

The main thing is to be really clear with your girlfriend what it represents. Make sure you tell her before you give it to her, to avoid confusion when she opens the gift.

I have a website - http://stores.ebay.com/The-Promise-Ring-... - where you can learn loads more about promise rings.

  6. Have u thought about it?

  7. A ring is a ring. You call it what you want. It's not an engagement ring unless you want it to be.
