  1. if i were you i would stick to the kitten food as it says kitten food for a reason

  2. I would keep them on kitten food for 6months but an entire year isn't necessary. Kitten food is more tailored to their requirements such as high protein but it can make them hyper and have v smelly faeces.

  3. on occasion it wouldn't be too harmful, but kittens do need the extra protein and vitamins in the kitten food so go with kitten food

  4. If you suddenly find that you are out of kitten food then feeding an 11week old kitten adult cat food for a day until you can get out to buy more kitten food isn't a big deal.  However, kittens NEED the kitten food because it is much higher in calories and protein which kittens need to support the rapid growth that happens in the first year of life.

  5. It Just Has Nutrients That Are Specially Good For Kittens! They Don't Need Kitten Food, But It's Reccomended!

  6. not the best idea - you could but the diffence is their digestive systems.

the kitten stuff is softer and gently builds their digestive systems up.

it won't make them directly ill, but in the long term its not the best idea, especially as your kittens are quite young.

  7. It won't hurt occasionally but kitten food has extra levels of taurine which they need to build good eyesight and bones. Even better would be to feed natural food, I feed my cats rabbit with the bones and the fur. Even at 6 weeks they love this - after all, it's what their mother would give them. Mushy food is not natural for cats, neither are biscuits made from vegetable matter. They need bones for teeth cleaning and fur/feathers for roughage.

  8. I suggest not to Iams for kittens is very good. Adult cat food can upset their stomachs.

  9. Its best to feed kitten food but yep, adult cat food will be just fine too. You can buy 'all stages' cat food rather than adult though if it helps.

  10. I am not usually controversial but .........

first let me say I feed my own kittens on fresh cooked chicken and fish, quality branded kitten wet food, and quality dried

    BUT

it does make me as guilty as everyone else of believing the hype. Yes, kitten food does have a higher level of protein, but cats were raised very successfully for many years when no such thing as kitten food existed. In those years I had a cat who lived to be 21, and another who made 19 .... so theuir systems were certainly not harmed by adult cat food.

We do the absolute best for our babies, but sometimes we do forget that - although domesticated - our cats are just as much obligate carnivores as the lions catching prey in Africa! Feral mothers wean their babies onto fresh killed whole animals!! Ferals have short lives usually - but not because of iffy digestion.I am not suggesting for a moment that we should do the same, but the point is sometimes modern research and targeted marketing do combime to make us paranoid.

  11. no they have to have kitten food until they are 12 months old then mixed half kitten half adult cos they have sensitive tummys. you can get felix kitten pouches and felix kitten foil tub things

  12. For the SECOND time (stupid Yahoo gasping for air):

Depends on the brand, but many kitten foods have slightly higher protein levels (4%) but it's still the wrong kind - it's plant instead of animal-based.

    The kibble bits are smaller.

    That is it.

  13. No i think you are suppose to feed them kitten food, although i know somebody who fed there cat adult food from the moment they started eating proper food and it has turned out perfectly healthy (:

I think kitten food has less of the stuff in it than stuff for adult cats as they dont need as many nutrients as adult cats

    Something like that (:
