  1. Yes, you can feed them the vegetable with baby corn, green peas and carrots.  Don't forget to offer them fruits too like apple and grapes.  Seeds should only be a small part of their diet.

  2. Yes you can fed her the frozen veg, she also needs fresh fruit and veg along with her regular food.

It's better to feed a pellet feed rather than just seed. Seed is very fattening and does not contain enough nutritional value, in fact it's basically junk food for birds.

Pellet contains vitamins and minerals and provides more protein than seed does.

I feed pellet with a small amount of seed, along with fresh fruit and veg daily.

  3. Why didn't you just buy the food for the bird when you bought it?

I rarely give my birds regular food they need the seeds in the mix too they just don't eat veggies.

  4. Congratulations on your new parrotlet :-)  They are wonderful little companions!  And good for you in starting your bird off right!

Yes, you may feed your parrotlet thawed frozen veggies.  You should get her used to eating a wide variety of healthy foods in addition to a top-quality seed mix.  While many vets still recommend a pellet-based diet for all birds, many avian vets feel that smaller birds generally don't do well on a pellet-based diet.  And there is some evidence that the mutation small birds should not be fed pellets at all due to kidney issues.

Among the foods you can feed your bird are:

Greens:  Kale, Bok choy, spinach, chard mustard greens radish, carrot tops, beet tops, dandelion greens (make sure they haven't been sprayed or collected near a roadway) and just about any other leafy green veggie.

Veggies:  Carrots, peas, zucchini, corn, squash, radishes, bell pepper, broccoli, green beans, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, chili peppers.

Grains:  Steamed rice (white, brown, wild) cooked pasta, whole wheat and multi-grain bread, popcorn (no butter), bran muffins, polenta, grits, cous cous, sprouted seeds and grains (quinoa, amaranth, millet, teff, kamut, spelt), oatmeal, all natural cereal.

Proteins:  Raw sunflower seed (small amounts), chicken, eggs, rish, small amounts of hard cheese such as Jack and cheddar, tofu, cooked beans (lentil, kidney, black, garbonzo, navy, white).

Fruit:  Apples (seeds removed), peaches, bananas, melons, mango, pomegranate, oranges, papaya, strawberries, plums, pears, berries, nectarines, cherries.  (Please remove all pits from fruit.)

Parrotlets generally have very high metabolisms so while they shouldn't eat a lot of fatty foods it is generally good to include some seed in their daily diets.

Please don't feed your parrotlet salty foods, processed sugar, avocado, rhubarb, alcohol, greasy foods, caffeine, tomato leaves & stems, eggplant leaves, dried beans (always cook or fully sprout first), chocolate, apple seeds, fruit pits, tobacco.  Feed onions or garlic in very small amounts only.

    Enjoy your parrotlet!
