You're crazy. I hear the Punjabi are the most moderate. I would go to the the Punjab province (don't go too far north). Dress modestly. I wouldn't take a girlfriend. If you have a wife, she might want to cover her head and neck to be on the safe side. Most people will probably be nice, but every culture has it's "bad eggs". Whatever you do, don't go to the North-West Frontier Province.

The United States State Department recommends that Americans do not travel to Pakistan due to "the threat of terrorist activity".  Also, there have been many bombings and kidnapping of Americans as of late.
