Can i go out of dubai airport during my 10 hours stop over?

im a filipino in riyadh. i'll be going on exit on january 3 2009 with a booking on emirates via dubai on my way back in manila.will have a stop over for more than 10 hours there.i wanna see my friends in dubai during my stop.can someone tell me if i can go out of the airport with a transit visa? my passport will expire february 9 2009.does my soon to be expired passport cut me off from going out of the airport or be granted with the transit visa? thanks for your response...

Kabayan! Let me tell you our experience, well I have so many comrades from my previous company there in KSA who visited UAE in and out. asI can remember one of them tried a transit visa and pays a 100 dollars (one of the Airline Hotel here sponsor his stay), and then enjoy in Dubai for 2-3days with his Son & Daughter. That's one case and I am not sure now how much now is the transit visa. Another case is that others got their visit visa(Dhs 800) from agencies here which is valid for 2months. From KSA to Philippines with stop over here in UAE and just arranging their flight schedules with the airlines. check out below are some guidelines.

Transit Visas

This type of visa is a 4-day (96 hour) visa, which is issued by sponsorship of an airline operating in the United Arab Emirates. A transit visa can only be issued if a visitor has a valid ticket for an onward flight and the issuing of transit visas are normally free of cost.

I think Kabayan there will be no problem on your Transit Visa, on ly your passport will be the problem. I suggest to renew your passport in KSA before you go on vacation if you really want to visit Dubai and see your friends there.
