  1. so many answers yet all of them incorrect! *sigh*

as a permanent resident of the US, you can get into canada without a visa. however, you need your passport from your home country with it.

so in going to canada as a permanent resident, you need a passport and your green card. whether by land, sea or air.

i'm a US permanent resident who has been going back and forth to canada.

EDIT: why the thumbsdown? check the canada website.

  2. I really dont know for sure, but if you can get into the U.S. i would think youd be OK getting into Canada, as far as i know its not required to have a passport to enter Canada if you are legally in the States.   However i would call your embassy in Canada to find out for sure.  May not be a bad idea to call your embassy in the sates as well just to make sure you can get back.

  3. Idk but I saw ur answer to my question n I may be under 21 but I still drink all the time hahahahahahahahahaha. Live it up drink it down!

  4. Go with the first guy.  I wouldnt trust anyone on here and drive all the way to Canada and not be able to get in.  Call your embassy or consulate. This site should give you some contact info http://www.embassiesabroad.com/embassies...

  5. 4yrs ago I went to Canada, Victoria to be exact with only a green-card and driver license and had no problems.

    I just found this:

"As of Dec 21, 2007, passport requirements have been once again delayed meaning that US citizens arriving in Canada by land or water do not need a passport until at least summer 2009."

  6. No.  And you would not be let back into the US without a passport.

  7. If you are not a citizen of the US, you will need a passport from your home country.  You may also need a visa depending what citizenship you have---you didn't mention this.

You will need to use your green card to re-eneter the US but it will not help you get into Canada..(even if going by car)

  8. Not anymore. It was allowed but now Canadian officials require Green Card holders to get a visa. But check if ur country of nationality has a visa waiver program with Canada, if yes, then u can go there without visa of course.
