  1. Harvard will let you in based on your academic abilities, GPA and admission test scores, not extra curricular and sports activities.

  2. If you have a strong application (i.e. solid grades, good test scores, stand-out essays, interesting extracurriculars and a deep interest in something) then there is a chance you will get in. Harvard doesn't accept students based on how much money they have by any means. I'm a sophomore at Harvard, and over 2/3 of my best friends are on some if not full financial aid. Additionally, if you don't have a lot of money, Ivy League schools like Harvard that have ridiculously large endowments will be able to offer you more financial assistance than other "little ivys" or lesser-known schools. If your parents make less than $60,000 a year than you are guarunteed full financial aid at Harvard (that is, they will give you $41,000 a year in scholarships that you DO NOT have to pay back!) Harvard also has announced that is eliminating loans. If you aren't happy with the financial package you are granted, you can go and argue your case for more money (which they will usually give you.) Overall, money doesn't matter one bit in the admissions process, and if you're good enough to get in, then Harvard is probably the best school you can go to if you are in need of substantial monetary assistance!
