I just got my braces put on exactly a week ago but i'm going to the dentist(not my orthodontist) to find out why i have sensitivity to my teeth months after i got a filling. Will he still be able to treat me with the braces on?

  1. And why would he not be able to treat you?

  2. You should continue to go to the dentist while your braces are on for your regular cleanings. I would actually call your orthodontist first about the pain you're having. Keep in mind that your teeth are shifting right now, and your pain is most likely due to getting the braces.

I generally have to go to my ortho between every other visit due to a wire poking me, open bracket, etc. Your trips to the ortho are already included with the price you pay for your braces, so try them first and if they can't help you they'll recommend you go to your dentist instead.

  3. Absolutely.

Actually both the dentist and the orthodontist encourage seeing both of them for the entirety of your orthodontic treatment. Your dentist will most likely find the problem and propose treatment for it.
