I have been on income support for about 3 years, and have just found a job.

I have a few questions for you:

1-how long does it take for your 1st working tax payment to came through?

2- how did your child/ren cope with you not picking them up/dropping them off at school?

3-how long until you felt like you were in a proper routiene with work life/home life etc?

Thanks for all your help in advance!

  1. kids cope just fine and its got you finally got off your butt and stopped using our taxes. d**n lazy *** people. im a single mother and i support my babies and go to school, dont act like you need your freakin hand held. actuallyt i do, i was left on the streets with my babies but im d**n independent and did **** myself because its whats right.

  2. hi dont listen to ali

i went back to work after a year on income (due to my daughters ill health) i cant remember exactly how long my tax credits took but i know it wasnt very long

my daughter coped just fine with me not always being there you will figure out your home routine although you will be knackered ha ha

if you go to the income support people they will also tell you of the going back to work benefits you can get to tie you over while waitin to be paid

good luck and well done for stickin it out at college

  3. I would use the jobcentre plus because they are very good and will tell you exactly what entiltlments you should still get whilst working such as help with housing benefits also you will get £250 from income support for going back to work plus £40 per week for 12 mnths so it's worth making an appointment. Child tax are pretty quick if you go online or phone and give them the correct updates but better still using the jobcentre they will do all this for you so you know it will be right.

Children soon get use to a different routine it will be yourself who will worry but they will be fine.

It took me a couple of months, mainly getting use to been paid monthly and not weekly when I started work.

  4. Some things are beyond your control.  Most importantly the children are like rubber bands, they are so resilient, they will have fun!  Be sure to communicate with them about theirr new school and always ask them how thei days was and what they did.  Ask them their favorite part, eventually they will be excited to see you and share their day.  I still don't feel like my life has calmed down, it is sooo chaotic.  You will find something that works for you and your children.  Good luck honey!  It is not easy, but you will be so proud of yourself and your kids will to! :)

  5. I'm a single mum but haven't been on Income Support but figured the advice would probably be the same :-)

    Firstly congrats on the job.

I've always found the tax credit people very easy to deal with and they are normally pretty swift at making your payments.  I now get mine weekly, as for how much you may get will depend on the number of hours you work.

I don't take my son to school but fortunately I have a great boss who let me rework the rota so I could pick him up from school, he's adjusted fine and is a happy little boy, you'll be surprised and maybe upset about how little it affects them!  lol

Routine wise?  It took a bit of juggling to be honest I'd say a good couple of months until we were both settled.

Regardless of what the uneducated masses may say, you can be a single mum, work and raise well mannered, happy children I'm living proof of that!

    Good luck.
