My dad had to move to Britain (from Belgium) as part of his Job, He had to live all around the globe you wouldnt beleive but anyway He lived in Britain and he became a citizen of the UK as a result. His work required him to go to Canada and later on he went on to live in Canada and apply to become a Canadain which he did.(later he went to south america for 10 years again for work) My dad assumed Britain didn't allow dual citizenship so all these years he assumed he lost his British Citizenship. But no he didn't as i found out for him. lol

Now since my dad is still a Citizen of the UK, can i become a UK Citizen if i wanted?

  1. If he had British Citizenship before you were born, then there is a chance. If you are still under 18, you must find his British passport ASAP & apply for ur British birth certificate.

If you are over 18, then you have to go through ancestor's visa procedure & will have to live in UK for 5 years to claim your UK Citizenship.

    Good luck.

  2. What citizenship does your dad actually have he is from belgium then he got a British passport. Then he got a Canadian one? Did your dad give up his citizenship of his home country when he became a citizen of the UK? Did he keep it?  I think you need to talk to your dad.
