Can i have a monkey as a pet?

I heard a man at a pet store who said you have to get a bunch of licenses. You would also need lots of money for a monkey I bet. Its your choice.

I do not recommend it, I saw a Nightline or Dateline episode that focused on people that have had monkeys as pets, and I still have nightmares about how wrong it was for the person and the monkeys. The stuff was tragic and put me into tears.

While you can have a monkey as a pet since it is allowed in certain states, it is not advised.  They are wild animals and can not ever be as domesticated as a dog or cat.  Usually they get pulled from their mothers at a very early age, and get scarred from the event.  They can become quite difficult to take care of resulting in the owner usually giving it up after a couple of years.  They also have the ability to flip out at any time depending on how traumatic their life was before they came to you.  They will hold their memories and any thing can set them off.  If you really love animals then you would look into how owning a monkey is detrimental to the animal rather than being able to have one for yourself.  I wanted one myself until I started doing research on how it hurts the animal.

nooooo i hate monkey's there very mean pets :) but i dont consider cuz they r more work then a puppy! but ur choice go ahead......
