  1. How do you measure success?

Women now frequently and equally compete for salaries.

The measures by which women are forced to have s*x, bear children and perform household chores exclusively are weaker than ever. There are laws to protect women where there is no equal law for men. Women have been heads of state in several countries.

However, Roman Catholicism still opposes women priests

and women do not dominate men in all areas (yet).

Some believe there will be success when women subjugate men to the same degree that men have women in the past.

Personally, I believe that women are treated more equally than ever before but not the same as men are treated. The difference in "not the same" is generally more differential towards respect for women.

Could you espouse "pro choice" for men...that a man could choose an abortion for a women pregnant with his child? Probably not, but in fairness, why force him then to pay child support for that child for 18+ years of his life like a semi-slave.

  2. I can't believe it took 70 years for US women to get the vote-but they did. What's been successful? Women in the US can own property; inherit separately from their husbands; can gain custody of their children; can apply and be admitted to most US universities; it's ok for women to get a college education; it's ok for women and men not to marry; women can get credit separate from their husbands; women can be paid equally if the law is enforced; women and men can complain about sexual harassment and even expect some results; rape of women is taken more seriously but not the rape of men (which is good and bad); battering of women is taken more seriously but not the assault of men (again that is good and bad); murder of men and women in US society is not taken seriously as it occurs every day; women have the right to apply for jobs traditionally held by men and vice versa but both face discrimination in the workplace for performing non-traditional jobs.

Things that still need work: neither mothers or fathers tasks as parents are given priority in US society; women are still discriminated against for being pregnant (or for having the opportunity to get pregnant); abortion and birth control are both under attack by a powerful and wealthy religious minority; men are still assumed to be providers and women are still assumed to be better parents by the courts and society; both men and women experience sexist treatment by others of their gender and the opposite s*x as well as their schools/colleges/work places/families and communities.

Religious organizations are still using sexism to guilt-trip both men and women about their relationships with each other and about marriage/s*x/children and the role of women in the church (as in-a more limited leadership role-depending on the organization).

Negatives: Men who espouse feminist values are called g*y or weak by some men (and some women); feminists are called lesbians or evil or homewreckers by some men and some women; men and women of color still suffer higher incidences of violence in US society as well as poverty; the US has a poor infant mortality rate compared to Europe because of inadequate health care in rural/poor areas of the US; and the US is falling further and further behind educationally than our European peers with no end in sight.

  3. Well all I know is that it's going to lead to a lot of complaning because some people can;t make up their minds.

  4. I think it has been somewhat successful.  We got the right to vote.  We gaining (not gained) more equality every day.  But we are not there yet.  There are still many inequalities.
