Can i have some tips on how to travel with your pet?

such as, what's the best way to travel, how long a pet can stand riding in a car, what hotels are best for dogs to stay in, and if traveling with your pet is a good idea

im guessing your traveling with your dog and its a road trip

well almost all hotels wont let animals in

motels not so sure about but im guessing the big chains are a no too

traveling with your pet is not the greatest idea and will cause more problems than the trip is worth

my advise get a good friend to look after you dog

but if you insist then take plenty of breaks to let your pet walk and plenty of water

i travel with my dog all the time. First thing is.. .I have travel kennel(its airline approved so I dont need to buy another one if I want to fly with him) in the back seat of my car. Everytime we go somewhere like the supermarket, park, vet ect. he is in his kennel. Inside his kennel I put a little bed in it, some toys, and a bowl that is hooked up to the door. This makes him comfortable and gets him used to trips.

When we get to a hotel, I make sure he goes to the bathroom  then  I make sure he is set up in our new room. His kennel, bowls toys.

I recently took my dog to Italy too. He loved it! 8 hour plane trip, we took a couple of train rides, and bus rides too. He was great, I think its because he is used to his kennel from home and he felt comfortable. I had a few treats with me when the trip was a little long I would give him one and pet him just so he knew he was ok.

The only downer I think is have to go out to eat. You are not allowed to leave your dog alone in the room so he/she must go with u. Unless you go to a place where there is outdoor eating you might want to plan on eating burgers in your car :).

Another tip might be is to rent an apartment instead of a hotel. This is what I did when I went to Italy.

The dog can ride as long as you. When you need to stop, so does the dog. Take the dog for a walk at the rest stops for 10 to 15 min. You both should need the walk.

Motels will let the dog stay in the room usually for a charge. Some motels advertise they welcome pets.$$.

Traveling with the dog is a good idea if you take care of the dog. You can not leave it in the car for hours while you shop or party. You need to take care of the dog first. have a nice trip
