  1. Not on the same car.

    You can have two cars - each insured with a different company but you can not put two policies on one car.

    The reason is: it is standard language in the auto policy that says if another policy is put on the car, the first policy becomes void.  This is to keep people from recovering twice (in the event of a loss).


  2. In the UK, no you can't on the same car.  Insurers share the same database so they will know if cover already exists on the vehicle and will refuse to insure you - it's a precursor to fraud.

    If you have more than one vehicle, you can insure them each with a different company if you wish.

  3. we had 2 in NC because we have several cars....check the rules in your state.... also i know of someone in NJ that has a car on one and a motorcycle on another.....i dont think they tap each others shoulders for every customer they get.
