  1. as my experince says that it is not good to put two anti virus in u r pc It will results into slow down of pc and many other problems.

I think u should go for avg as it is more reliable..

  2. ya you can install both the antivirus on your system ..

but it'll make your system slow and it may result in system crash and thus loss of data ..so better install only one antivirus.. if you are going with avg professional edition then its good , but if your going with free edition then along with it install spybot sarch and destroy to give more protection to your pc ..

if your going with free edition then try avira antivirus also.. it detects more threats than avg ,  but if you are using internet then go with avg ..

  3. It is best not two have more than one anti virus software on one's pc. They interfere with one another, and prevent you from getting the best results. I am very happy with AVG. .

  4. I think people are misguided.  The threat of runing more than one different AV is overrated.  Yes it can slow down the system.  But it is the price to pay for keeping your system clean.  I am not a big fan of TWO AV softwares but, sometimes it is necessary.  A Suggestion is to install two, but to have only one active.  When you think you have an infection...run both...then disable the other when you think you are clean.  Howeverrrrr..you probably want to run Anti Spyware software as well.  Most of todays infections are caused by Spyware...

I've been a PC Tech for over 20 years now.  Virus and Spyware removal are my bread and butter.  70% of the machines I fix are directly related to infections.

I personally dont run any Antivirus programs on my computer, and havent for the last.......5 or 6 years....I do however run one Antispyware program.  The reason being is I have a GREAT knowledge of manual removal, as well as knowing what to stay away from and what to watch out for.  This technique is not for everyone.  In my experience from seeing my clients come back even a week after I've cleaned their system, they blame me and say no no you never cleaned it, you did a horrible job, I could never get on the internet and the system is still running slow after you cleaned up my machine, etc etc etc.  Well low and behold the trial software/shareware/freeware software I left on there was either not running, disabled, uninstalled, not updated not ran etc.  Also I check the internet history and what do i see.....low and behold the go back to their usual routine, download limewire, grokster, kazaa, visit their p**n sites again, and gambling/casino sites, and I say huh...funny that you downloaded this picture yesterday from x*x.whatever.com, and you went to gamblers.casinomakemoney.com

and oh you went to wholovesporn.com and so on and so forth...or I see the typical winantivirus2008.com installed and say look I didnt install those...nor did I sneak into your house and went to those websites you went to.  Look at that that was yesterday...that was 3 days ago...and ya you never ran the programs I left on there for you a week ago....see , and run them and boom all is better on their computer etc.

Anyway long story too long...sorry, I suggest running more than just one AV Software, and suggest running at least 2 Antispyware softwares as well.  Big problem today is that the AV and AS companies are not sharing their code for finding viruses and spyware.  So one company's software will find an infection but another might not and vice versa.

  5. Bot are good. Running both not a good idea, conflicts.

  6. Hi

Yes, you can download and use both. It provides excellent protection.

HAS ANYBODY ACTUALLY READ THIS? It seems that no one has actually checked exactly what ThreatFire does...

It's true ThreatFire has an antivirus but it only scans files which the behavioural blocking deems to be suspicious so there should be no conflicts. Also, their website states: "Works alongside most other security programs - there is no need to uninstall your antivirus, anti-spyware, firewall or other security program before installing ThreatFire."

You can also consider occasionally scanning with Superantispyware free and Malwarebytes Antimalware free.

  7. It's preferable to not have 2 antiviruses on the same OS. One usually tends to interfere with the other and can create problems, not to mention it really slows down the comp.

U've heard of NOD32 antivirus? Try that. It's newer version is also user friendly although i use the original edition. It's pretty light software and very efficient. Recommended by some experts.

  8. **Important:If you have antivirus software installed but want to install a new product from a different company, be sure to uninstall your current product before installing the new one. Having two different antivirus programs installed can cause conflicts (problems) on your computer.

In the early days of the antivirus industry, technical conflicts resulting from the installation of two or more antivirus products on the same computer were not uncommon.

**Conflicts can now involve two programs attempting to use one resource, or attempting to perform identical functions.

I recommend that you stay with avg, as the 8.0 edition(free) comes with a firewall.

Though not the best firewall, but it wins Windows Firewall.

So it will give you more protection.
