Can i hear CB talk on a scaner?

I have anon-digital Air, marine, HAM, police, fire, EMS, and weather scanner. can this pick up a citizens bands frequency?

  1. yes it is 27Mhz in steps of 0.05Mhz


  2. Sure, as long as your scanner can pick up in the 26.965 to 27.405 MHz range.  Channel 19, used by most truckers (except on the west coast) is 27.185 MHz.

    Side note: even the cheapest scanner at radioshack.com will pick up the frequency range I listed

  3. Nomad - If you let us know the make and model of the scanner, we could let you know if it will pick up the CB band.

    Most scanners do not pick up the CB band.

  4. most scanners do not pick up the CB band for the reason that they are built for FM reception only. Most CB is AM with some SSB activity.

  5. you can but arent those scanners illegal?
