Can i hook up my amp in my 1996 mercury sable?

i have 2 10' sub woofers and an amp to go with them.i know in general how to hook it all up but idk how to hook up the amp to the back of the stereo. i know it needs to have an rca jack but the ashtray is kinda in the way of the back of the stereo and its not a stereo you can easily remove so any suggestions?

  1. Two other ways...

    If the amp has high-level inputs, use those. Tap off of the rear speaker wires and use the high-level input.

    or

    Use a LOC (Line-Out Converter). Also taps off of the speaker wires and converts the audio signal from high-level to line-level (RCA).


  2. If you have a factory radio, it's easily removed with Ford radio removal tools; but it won't do you any good.  There's no RCA outputs or even speaker wires at the back of the factory head unit.  You'll need to use a line-out converter, installed in the trunk.  The factory amplifier is located behind the driver's side rear wheel well.
