Can i house a breeding pair one corn snakes together permanently?

ive been told i cant house a male and female pair of baby corn snakes together. if i put a cage divider in until they were the right size and age to breed could i then take it away and house them together permanently.

  1. yes you can, i did for and it went alright. but mine were both adults and it woulnt be wise to keep babies together. for the first year i would keep them in a corn snake starter kit, its a cheap, temporary glass vivarium and is perfect for young corns.

  2. you shouldnt house snakes together permanently because they are solitary animals that only come together to breed it will cause stress to both snakes

    also the male could repeatably mate with the females stressing her out of killing her due to being continually gravid

  3. Bad idea. Snakes are solitary animals, only coming together at breeding time.  Co-housing will just be an extra stressor, predisposing them to disease, parasite issues and the ever-present possibility of one killing the other.

    Unless it's actually breeding season, it is NEVER a good idea to house multiple snakes together.


  4. you can put them together of course, it's just not a good idea. Cages aren't that expensive. Just keep them in a seperate cage, that's not really that inconvenient.
