  2. i believe there is a website with a programme available to download which gives a dail-up connection the same speed as broadband? Have a search round im sorry that i dont remember the site

  3. yeh... get broadband

  4. no...not really, even if they tell you ...they just take your money, but its still dial-up!!

  5. You can increase the "effective" speed by using data compression by using a V.92 dial-up data modem with V.44 data compression protocol.

By compressing the data, with V.44 compression protocol, you effectively increase the data rate speed up to 50%.  This is one of the selling features of V.92 modems.

So, even though the Internet data rate remains at a maximum of 56Kbps, the "effective" data rate is increased by the use of data compression.

V.92 modems have the added benefit of also supporting MOH (Modem on Hold), which allows you to put your modem Internet connection "on Hold" while answering an incoming PSTN telephone call, and then go back to surfing when finished with the call.  MOH also supports displaying Caller-ID on your computer screen when phone calls come-in while surfing, too.

For maximum benefit, first check with your ISP to see if they support V.92 modem connections.  Maximum benefit is only obtained when both ends of connection are using V.92 with V.44 compression protocols.

  6. i have broadband you can try that or you can get the software net accelerator it could speed your connection up to 3 times or go to www.mweb.co.za they have i great software to speed up your connection
