Can i install windows on one pc's hard drive and then put it in another pc?

I reformatted my hard drive in my old pc because i couldn't get my new one to boot from the cd/rom but I haven't put the windows back on it.Can I use my old pc to put the windows on the hard drive and then put it back in my new pc because I can't get my new one to start up.

yes you can but when you put it on the new pc you may need install again some device drivers since its a new pc with different hardware.

Windows will image its environment, unless you use a preinstallation, which may or may not work.
