Can i install xp home on a laptop when it was part of package with packard bell desktop? (Laptop=compaq)?

I already have genuine windows cd with certificate of authenticity.

  1. Yes you can. All you need is a genuine copy of XP Home and installation code and you are away.


  2. I assume that you want to use the restore cd that came with the desktop. You cannot install this on the laptop, you must buy a genuine XP Windows cd and licence number http://www.trilogicuk.co.uk

  3. Unfortunately, that is not allowed. When you installed your XP on your desktop, it became 'married' to that computer. If you install it on your Laptop, it will check the internet to see if it is "legal". As it isn't it could really mess up your laptop.

    If you didnt install it on your desktop, it might work...not sure but it would still be technically illegal (breaks contract agreement even if it doesn't break the law)
