  1. Yes.

Your parents will have to sign a waiver for your initial enlistment.  Enlist 11B.  You probably can arrange for airborne immediately followed by Ranger Indoctrination Program (RIP).  I saw people do it when I was at Airborne.

While you're in the Army, go to school and earn a degree.

After your initial enlistment, get out and reenlist in the Navy.

Of course, this is a long process, but it is possible.

  2. You can join the military at 17 with parents permission.

Than you can try to become a Ranger by joining the Army.

Once you pick a service you can't jump from one to another.

My suggestion is enjoy your youth and wait tell you are 18.

You will have plenty of time and the military won't go anywhere.

  3. Wow I cant believe all these people are getting this question wrong, some are close but none really gave you the right info. You can join the military at 17 with parents permission, you can join the Army with a Ranger contract either as a 13F (forward observer) or 11B (Infantry). You will have to pass a specialized physical and will also get Airborne school in your contract you'll attend RIP (Ranger Indoctrination Program). You can go to a Ranger battlion without having completed Ranger school although you wont get treated so well you will be in the batalion and will be expected to attend and complete ranger school before or within 3 years (you wont be promoted higher than the rank of E-4 without yor tab in batalion) if within your first three years you do not complete ranger school you will most likely be sent to a regular infantry unit. Thats your answer on Ranger.

Going to Navy SEAL's after enlistment in the Army is complete. I dont have a 100 percent answer on this for you but it seems unlikely that the change will be easy. If you want to do SEAL's type work and your in the Army go to Army special forces, they do the same thing as SEAL's  they're just overlooked because more movies were made about the SEAL's so they get a little more publicity. Just like the whole world thinks Marines are the first to go and the font line and all that stuff, theyre brainwashed by movies.

So my advice to you is go talk to a recruiter about being an Army Ranger. If you make the requirements, and after being in the Army a while you'll be a little more educated about things and probably wont want to go to the SEAL's anyway. Good luck. Army!!!!!!!!!

  4. No it is NOT

  5. You don't join the Army Rangers, you would join the army while in your contract it states you are able to try to become an army ranger, which means you have to pass the course.  But, first off let's talk about SEALS, which is NAVY.  It is almost impossible to transfer from a Ranger unit or any into the SEALS primarily because the Navy will see that your already Army trained which in some respect comes into effect.  Many times coming out of the Army into any other branch other then National Guard is difficult.  Point of fact:  I was stationed with a Warrant Officer who had 4 (Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and Russian) languages, 2 BA's and wanting to go AF, the Air force told her no, she was Army.  Instead she went to the FBI.

So, you may want to look into the SEAL's program first.  Make sure you check out their site here: http://www.sealchallenge.navy.mil/ Although the better preference is Special Forces here:  http://www.bragg.army.mil/specialforces/  Although either choice is a great service I would pick the SF before any other.  Wish I knew then what I know now!  With 20 years of service,  starting at the top SF would have been a lot better then where everyone else does, picking a school right there at the MEPS!

  6. I am in the Army, and can tell you it isn't that easy.  You have to join the Infantry (11B) in the Army.  You have to do a minimum of 3 years.  During those 3 years, you can request Ranger School.  If your chain of command approves, then you go to PRP (Pre Ranger Preperation) where you do extensive training.  Then you will go to selection.  If you pass that, you will do 6 weeks of training in the SE USA.  Once you become a Ranger, you will go back to your primary duty station and fullfill your contract in the army.  If you really want to become a navy SEAL, your best bet is to just join the Navy or Marines.  I hope this helped you.

P.S.  Switching branches of the military is hard as heck these days.

  7. As was previously stated. You can join the military at 17 with permission from your parents. They will have to sign some type of release (ask the recruiter). My Brother joined the Air Force at 17.5. As far as the Rangers go, I believe that you need to be selected for the RANGERS after your Army training.
