  1. Dude, if you think it'll be that easy you'll probably never be a ranger.  You need to be 87 with a GED to even enlist in the Army Airborne and then do extremely well, become airborne certified, apply for the Rangers, and pass Ranger school to actually become a Ranger.

  2. You can not just sign up to be a Ranger. You must have an actual MOS (such as Infantry) first and then attend the RIP (Ranger Indoctrination  Program). IF you pass that  you will be assigned to a Ranger unit. It is up to them to send you to Ranger school after that. You must also attend Airborne training. You can get Airborne and Rip in your contract but you going to a ranger unit depends on you passing both of those.

  3. No. You will not go to boot camp until after high school graduation.

  4. you wont have enough summer break to go ranger.

RESERVES and infantry would equal fort benning

  5. No.

To go to basic in the summer before your senior year, you have to do a program called Split Option in the Army Reserve.  The Army Reserve does not have Ranger Option.

To 'join the Rangers,' you must enlist for Active Duty as an 11X (there are a few other MOSs, like 74D, but they are rare).  After OSUT/AIT, you go to Airborne School, and after Airborne, you go to RIP.

There are very few, if any Infantry in the Reserves.

All Infantry go to Fort Benning for training.

I only know Active and Reserve stuff, you may want to talk to a Guard Recruiter.

  6. Well, you'd defineatly have to go to basic first. According to a recent Army Times, they're actually cutting back on the infantry guys. You don't have to be infantry to be a ranger. If you went infantry you would do your 9 weeks of basic and your additional 4 weeks (could be longer, I can't remember) all in one sitting at Fort Benning, GA. Then go through RIP (I don't know if Airborne is in this, or if you do it before/after it), then you get to ranger school if they decide to send you. The goarmy.com website and the Fort Benning Ranger site has good info on the entire process.

Your questions makes it seem like you would go Ranger, then go to Basic, which you can't do. and you certainly couldn't do all this in one summer.

  7. you cannot sign up to be a ranger, you have to get an regular MOS and then you have to " chosen " ( from what i know ) to be a ranger.

But yes, you can join the Army at 17 and go through basic during summer and do your AIT after you graduate.
