Can i just go to canada with a passport?

  1. Are you an American citizen?  If you are, you may VISIT Canada for 6 months without a visa, BUT, you may NOT WORK.  To get a work visa...you must apply , and it is not esy.  To reside there permanently, you must apply to immigrate FROM your own country.  You cannot just "move" to Canada..and it is the same for Canadians who wish to liv in the U.S.  Some days I think we should just have   a grand trade off for a year or two as there are so many people on each side of the border that are convinced the other side is better!  You may read the info on the site below to learn visa and immigration requirements.

  3. NO! You must apply for permanent residency from outside Canada. You can't just show up at the border and park yourself in Canada. It doesn't matter if you have a passport or not.
