They probably need to have an authorization letter from you to do that.

You will need to give a letter of authorization to the person who will be processing your papers for them to be able to do so. Your letter must contain the phrase "authentication of diploma and transcript of records". That's what my mom told me she needs since she is now processing my high school diploma for me.

I did just that. It was my brother in law who brought all my papers for authentication to  NCSO and  to DFA (for red ribbon). I sent/gave to my brother in law,  the copy of my passport, my ID, letter of authorization  stating that my brother in law is processing all my papers for me. I also send them the copy of  all papers, e.g. TRO (Transcript of Records), Birth Cert, and others.

Of course, I also sent money for processing and also gave  some amount to my brother-in-law.

The following statement was lifted from the Department of Foreign Affairs' web-page for Authentication.

All applications should be made in person by the applicant except under certain circumstances (e.g. documents filed by his/her immediate kin).
