Can i just use my driver's license and birth certificate to get back into the united states from mexico?

or do i have to get a passport? I'm going either in june or july and it's not a border town either.

See site below for current info. Passports will not be needed fro LAND travel to mexico until summer 2009.

Are you a US citizen?  Are you driving?  Then yes, all you'll need is your license and birth certificate.  If you're flying, you need a passport.

Right now they don't care for your id or driver's license they want the passport it's mandatory

thumbs down for answering correctly(pretty dumb) because unlike you guys i went to mexico and passed the border and they told me that they are not accepting the license or id they will accept the birth certificate but you also have to have the passport

Right now all you need are those two things you mentioned.

Soon you will be required to have a passport.
