  1. To be honest I am not sure about DSL, but if you live anywhere where you can get charter cable, they have a package deal where you get phone internet and cable tv all in one, OR you can just do the cable internet, or mix and match or whatever. Cable is faster than DSL, and thats what im going to do when I get my apartment soon, because I have a cell phone and have no need for a regular phone. You could try calling your DSL provider and ask them if you prefer to use DSL though.

  2. Yes, all the companies I've heard of offer the services separately or in a package of some kind.  They'll tell you how much you'll save.  It may not be much because you are probably getting a price break for having a package rate.  You realize that you won't have any home phone service if you do that and will have to either use a cell phone or go to another company for service.

  3. I believe this is called 'dry' DSL service, where you do not actually need phone service also. The cost may not save you much, but most companies offer it, but do not encourage it. Won't hurt to ask..

  4. Yes, as long as you have high speed interent, you don't have to get a phone service.  If you want to make phone calls, try doing it thru your internet.  it's called VoIP.  check out this website.  http://www.5linx.net/stephanie.  for just $24.95 you can make unlimited calls anywhere in the United States and to a dozen other countries, with no international rates.  Check it out.

  5. then the dsl will not work u need a phone line
