Can i keep a firemouth cichlid with a tiger oscar?

i need to know because i want to put a cichlid with my tiger oscar but i dont know which one (s) i could put with it i really like firemouths but if i cant put it with my oscar i will live with it and get a different cichlid

  1. Unless you have a 100+ gallon tank, then I don't recommend it.  Tiger oscars get to be fairly large and can be highly territorial unless they have lots of space.

  4. They can do fine together, but get them both young so they grow up together. The firemouth should grow too big for the oscar to eat, however the oscars grow much quicker than a firemouth. You can put many other types of cichlids in with an oscar as long as you have a suitable sized tank for them. Jack dempseys, convicts, salvini's, severum, frontosas, etc. are all good tank mates for an oscar. All you need to know when finding a suitable tank mate, is that they are not highly aggressive, and they grow large enough not to be food for the oscar. Good luck ;)
