  1. i convinced my mum to let me have a rat by keeping my room immaculate, then when i acutely got the rat i keep that clean to, just tell her that rats are the cleanest rodents around the only reason they have their "diseased" reputation is because in the olden days people chased them into the sewers because of their looks.as for the cat it should be fine to have both as long as you keep it away, if it got to close to your rat it could give it a heart attack or eat it! and to end my essay it's not a good idea to kep rats and mice in the same cage as they are both very terrotorial animals and will fight to the death leaving you a not so nice mess to clear up!

good luck with convincing your mum!

  2. The answer to your main question depends upon the situation.

If your cat is an outdoor cat, then keeping a rat shouldn't be a problem, since they won't come into much contact. However, an indoor cat may pose a problem, especially if the cage is kept in the same area as the cat. Keeping a rat in the same household as a cat may prove too stressful to the poor thing, and the end result could be that the rat dies of shock.

  3. Yes you keep em in a cage [[the rats]].

Rats and mice are okay I guess.

    Cry and beg about it!!!

  4. of course you can but maybe when you get the rat you should separate them.

  5. i dont know abt rats and mice but i do know that rats and hamsters are natural enemies in the wild.also,i have a cat and ive kept 2 rats for their full life span so it is possible just make sure you close the door of the room they're in when you're not in there with them

  6. of course you can

  7. yer you can keep a cat with a rat

just make sure the rat's in a cage or something

but don't keep the rat with the mice. thats just plain mean.

  8. the question is

would your parents let you have one?

having a cat and a rat at a same time isn't a problem.

    i own a dog, a cat and a hamster.

  9. do you mean as food for the cat.or as a pet.

  10. When I was a kid I used to have a pet mouse and a cat.

The cat would spend ages watching the mouse in it's cage and I used to think 'Stupid cat, you are never going to get that mouse from that cage.'

But one day, I lifted the lid, the mouse jumped out, quick as lighening the cat grabbed and there it was...... Gone!

I don't think it would be a good idea to keep rats and mice in the same cage together either.

  11. not for long

and anyway, it isn't fair to the rats or mice - they would be living in terror

  12. i have a cat and a rat! my rats cage has slide open doors what i do is bread tie them shut. or when the cat is in i shut my bedroom door . and at nidgt cover its cage up with a blanket  or towel. i saved up money and payed for it myself.and got a table to set its cage on. and cleans it cage and takes care of it. and feed it .

  13. of course yes... at least you keep your rat away from ur cat...

  14. Yes, you can keep rats when you own cats. Just make sure the rats have secure cages, and they're supervised closely when out of the cage.

You cannot keep rats & mice together in the same cage, though. As adults, rats can and will kill mice. They may get along while the rats are young, but that won't last for long.

You need to convince your parents to get TWO, not one. Rats should not be kept alone, as they are very social animals.

Research rats and provide facts to your parents. We cannot change what their answer will be, but you'll look more responsible if you do research on the pet care instead of jump into owning one.

  15. thats up to the cat ... haha but seriously

yes keep rats and mice in seperate cages and you will be fine ,

tell your mom you need rats and mice for a school science project

i think this might be good enough for best answer

  16. Yeah you can have a rat if you have a cat! I am not sure about mixing rats and mice in the same cage! How old are you? Is your room kinda big? I would just tell them your responsible enough for more pets!

  17. tell ur parents that there quick and easy to look after,

plus if u bath them there clean too and u can tame them.

so all in all there great pets to own.

If u have a cat, i would keep the rats in a seperate room with the door shut, bcuz ur cat wont stop trying to get it, so if its in an enclosed area were ur cat cant get it, its fine to have both as pets.

and yes u can put rats with mice, however i would probably recommend getting one or the other.

  18. hard to keep them.

  19. well of course i have 9 rats and 11 cats and my kittens love them i wouldn't recommend putting them together my cats and rats just like each other cause they grew up together

  20. all i know is that you can't keep rats and mice together.

and you would be able to keep a rat if you had a cat. just as long the cat dont eat it! and let your parants know that you know about this animal and will take full responsibility for it.

  21. I would imagine you wouldn't be keeping them very long with a cat around.

I haven't a clue how you would convince your parents to get rodents.

  22. You can if you lock up one or the other.. dont convince your mom.. a rat why would you want one  anyways..
