  1. Bristlenose plecs can grow up to 4.5 inches and need at least a 30g tank.   They are compatible with most freshwater fish:

    Angelfish

    Discus

    African Cichlids

    South American Cichlids

    Tetras

    Barbs

    Danios

    Gouramis

    Rainbowfish

    Guppies

    Platies

    Mollies

    Swordtails

    Loaches

    Plecos

    Scavenger Catfish

You should have them in groups of 3 or more so they don't get aggressive towards other fish.

  2. Adult males can be territorial, they are OK if the tank is big enough, but in a small tank they often fight.

Best option is one male and several females, for 4, I would suggest a tank around 30gal.

Multiple males, go with a bigger tank to allow them space.
