  1. Well if thats the law in New York, then yes you need one.

Like in Michigan you only need the back one.

But I dont know about new york...

  2. Depends on what the NY laws are. If they give you two plates you're supposed to have them both on, but you probably can get away with it until inspection time.

  3. New York requires two plates.  If you haven't been stopped, they just haven't noticed yet.

  4. You must have both plates on the car at all times, otherwise you are subject to a $175 fine for failure to properly display registration.  Already got one.

  5. the ticket will cost a lot more than  the $12 lic plate bracket.

in your state you are required to have front and rear plates

  6. NO.

I live in NYC (QNS).  And the law is 2 plates (that is why they give you 2 plates). If you haven't received a ticket yet, it is only a matter of time.

DMV especially don't like that because some people will have the smart idea of registering ONE car then displaying it on TWO car.

Last month I receive a bill for over due ticket from 2002.  Most of it was "failure to display plates in front or back".  Luckily the tickets weren't mine and I'm fighting it.

    good Luck...
