i mean it wont be now... but when i start college my kitten (5 months by the time) will be alone from 8 till 3.30...my dad will be around to give him food and all that but then he has to leave for some business at times... will he be ok during these hours by himself?

i know he will be sleeping most of this time, but just wanted to make sure...

i am thinking about getting him a friend... should i?

  1. Your cat will be fine.  I work odd hours (anything from 10.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m., but at the moment, mostly leaving at 4.30 p.m. and getting home around 10.30 p.m.)  I make sure that my cat has wet and dry food, water and a clean litter tray.  I get greeted at the door when I return, asked for more food and then ignored!  Give him attention when you get home and he will quite quickly get used to the routine.

  2. Getting him/her  a friend would be good. What i do is put hot water in a water bottle and put it with the kitten so it feels cozy.you can put stuffed animals with it too.make sure you put it in a safe spot to. give it things to climb on if you get them kinda big he can use them longer make sure you dont forget to litter box train him/her and give her/him a litter box

  3. yes, he should be perfectly fine. =]

most likely will cat nap all day.

if you can afford it, I would most definetly get a friend for your cat. it helps them not be so loney, and not get into too much stuff.

and since he is young, they wont hate eachother, they will bond quickly.

  4. As long as you make sure there are no dangers in the house & that there are no cupboards or anywhere the cat could get trapped it would be fine as cats are mischievious & get into all sorts of trouble when unsupervised. A playmate is a good idea too.

  5. My 3 cats are alone for about 5 hours in the morning and then 3 hrs. in the afternoon.  They do just fine.  Sometimes they are alone all day and they do not get into too much trouble.  Just make sure that if you don't want them to be into something, close that door.  I would say get a friend for him if you are able to.  That is what I did for my one cat but I ended up getting two more instead of just one.

  6. yes unless it's it truly loves u

  7. Your cat will be fine by himself as long he has food, water, toys and a place to potty.  A friend for him would be nice so he won't be lonely.  But he will probably sleep most of the time you are gone.
