  1. Not really.

    If you needed to go dive into the water to save someone, and your ankle was in pain, you might end up being more dangerous then the water.

    because i mean how many times do you actually have to jump in the water to save someone? pretty much all you have to do is sit there and blow whistles at kids and say "NO RUNNING" =)

    jkjk=i don't think you should because if you did have to save someone, then you both might start drowning because you ankle might hurt really bad

  3. You can still serve as a lookout because spotting a person who needs help is one of the most important things in lifeguarding (this applies for the beach or open water more so than a pool). If I were the manager of lifeguarding operations I would assign you specific lookout and communication duties such as radio operation and, if you're experienced in the field, land-based critical decision duties. As far as I'm concerned as long as you're not comatose or severely disabled you can most likely serve some function on a lifeguarding crew.
