  1. Unless you know how much postage to use, you should go to the post office.  There are several rates based on envelope size and weight.

  2. If you've ever ordered software over the internet and requested a copy CD of the program all they do is stick the CD in a small thin cardboard case and either mail it that way or put it in a bubble wrap envelope and mail it in that. If it is a CD with valuable or irreplaceable information on it, I would back it up just in case a truck or something ran over it.  You just never know is this day and age.

  3. You can also send it media mail and schedule the post office guy to come and pick it up from your house. It will be cheaper than regular mail. If you do send it first class make sure you put some bubble wrap around it.

  4. aol does it all the time.  all the time.

  5. At least give the CD some protection by using cardboard CD mailers.  They're not that expensive if you buy them in quantity, and it will be a lot more impressive than having your CD arrive broken because you were too cheap to protect it.

Postage will depend on the weight when it's ready to mail.  Because of the CD mailer's shape, you have to pay the large envelope rate.  Two ounces, sent First-Class Mail, will be $1.00; three ounces will be $1.17.  If you need higher rates go to www.usps.com and click on the "calculate postage" link.

Your carrier can pick them up if they're ready to mail, including postage already on them, when he/she delivers the mail.

  6. I have sent and received CDs and DVDs through the mail all the time. Your plan with the card and tape should work. I don't know where you live, but there are many stores, like drugstores and stationery stores, that sell cardboard envelopes or padded envelopes made specifically for mailing CDs and DVDs.

  7. Netflix does it all the time

  8. Yes. You're fine.
