No.  You cannot!  You would have to buy a hard top separately.  They cost around $1200 new.  You could probably find a used on on the internet.

I have no idea what the guy above me was rambling about and saying no for.  The answer is yes.  The soft/hard top options are interchangeable.  Obviously you have to possess a hard top to put it on your Wrangler, but once you purchase one you can bolt it straight on after removing your old soft top.  It is a two person job, but CAN be done.

The correct answer is NO...you other dummies...you cannot 'make a soft top into a hard top'. They are two entirely different things. A jeep wrangler is a wrangler-it is not a 'soft top or hardtop' jeep-it would come WITH a soft top or hardtop, or both.

BUT you CAN 'get' a hard top to ONTO the jeep tub so that you now 'have' a hardtop. But you will still have the soft top-sitting in your garage to put back on next summer.

The hard top is a one-piece shell (well, the rear window opens) that you need help with-this is not a one man job. Remove the soft top and if it is

NOT a 'factory' soft top, probably all the 'track' around the windshield and the lip of the tub...all the soft top pieces, all come off. Then a minimum of 2 hefty guys lift the hardtop up and you clamp and bolt it down. OKay, might be a little more work if your jeep didn't have a hard top-some bolt holes might not be there, might need a gasket around the windshield frame, etc.

BUT when you order your hardtop or find a used one, you MUST MAKE SURE you get the right one for YOUR YEAR and MODEL jeep. They are NOT UNIVERSAL....each soft top and hardtop will ONLY FIT a certain number of years and style of jeep.

Our 2 families own a total of 10 jeeps now, and that includes 4 wranglers. Only 2 of the wranglers can swap parts-the 2000 and 2003 TJ,s, my 95 YJ will not swap any parts or tops with the other 98 wrangler.

Yes, a hard top will bolt right on there after you remove the soft top.
