Can i make a really powerful kite that will lift me into the sky cheaply?

I have heard of somebody doing this.  Although it may have been with hundreds of helium filled balloons! Ahh maybe i read it in the book Wasp Factory by Iain Banks, Cannot quiet remember.  But go to high and surely you would die? Cold, lack of oxygen etc but hey who am i and what do i know about it - but an easy 2 points

There was a Brazilian priest back in April trying to break a world record for staying aloft. He was using 1000 helium balloons and carrying food and drink, a satellite phone, GPS and flotation equipment. He was blown out to sea and lost contact with people on the ground. Some of his balloons were found but I have seen no report that he was ever found.

unless u want a hang glider but there not that cheap and sorry to burst ur bubble but i dont thinks anything like that will be invented soon
