My fiance are getting married at the end of August but we just bought a house a few weeks ago. We figure now that we are paying a bigger house payment than rent and have utilities now, it would be easier to write ONE check instead of one of us giving the other the other half. Anyway, I have an individual account with Wachovia (may switch banks, but if I don't this still applies) and was wondering if I can add his name to it? I tried contacting Wachovia but I haven't gotten anything back.

  1. you definetely can but i definetely wouldn't. no matter how much you ar ein love it is important to make sure you always have your own space just in case of an emergency. i wuld open up a second joint checking account

  2. yes, this is very possible to do. you need to bring him with you at your local branch (he must bring at least two identifications) and he'll just have to sign an account agreement to make it a joint account. account number retains and he will have his own access to the account, like debit card, writing checks, and online or telephone banking.

just make sure this is want you want to do coz this cannot be changed bank to a personal account unless acct is closed; both account holders also share equal responsibility, asset & liability on the account.

  3. It is better to just open a new joint account at the bank of your choice.
